VRA Bags Three Prestigious Awards at the 2019 Ghana Energy Awards

The Volta River Authority (VRA) is gradually becoming synonymous with awards winning as it bagged three (3) more awards at the 2019 Ghana Energy Awards.

The awards presented to the VRA were: CEO of the Year (Power), Clean Energy Initiative of the Year, and Innovation Project of the Year.

The Clean Energy Initiative of the Year award is in recognition of the Authority’s Electro Volta House Rooftop Solar Project, which is expected to reduce electricity consumption from the national grid by 9.5%. The Innovation Project of the Year award, on the other hand, is in acknowledgement of VRA’s commitment to ensuring that riparian communities minimize the consumption of firewood by providing them with fuel-efficient domestic cook stoves, termed, “Climate Smart Stoves” (CSS).

Former Board Chairman and Chief Executive of VRA, Mr. Erasmus Alexander Kobla Kalitsi, was also decorated with the “Lifetime Achievement” Award for his immense contribution to Ghana’s Power Sector.

The Chief Executive of VRA, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa led the delegation from VRA to receive the awards.
